LIFEGUARD is seeking to appoint three Armed Junior Drivers to support a foreign mission based in Vienna, Austria.
The positions are suitable for disciplined, reliable and service-oriented individuals with prior military or law-enforcement experience who wish to develop their career within a highly professional, international and security-sensitive environment.
The successful candidates will form part of a carefully structured support function responsible for secure, discreet and dependable transport, vehicle readiness, movement support and related protective duties for authorised mission personnel and visitors.
This is an entry-level appointment within a demanding environment. Candidates must be capable of maintaining high standards of conduct, confidentiality, presentation, judgement and operational discipline at all times.
Your Responsibilities
The successful candidates will be expected to support the mission and its authorised personnel through duties that may include:
- safe, discreet and professional driving for mission personnel, visitors and authorised delegations;
- daily vehicle inspections, readiness checks and responsible vehicle presentation;
- maintaining appropriate standards of cleanliness, fuel availability, documentation and operational readiness;
- supporting planned movements, official engagements, airport transfers, delegations and sensitive appointments;
- route familiarisation and movement planning in accordance with assignment requirements;
- identifying and reporting relevant safety, traffic, environmental or situational concerns;
- assisting with advance preparation for visits, events and official movements;
- maintaining accurate operational records, vehicle logs and incident documentation where required;
- liaising appropriately with mission personnel, approved service providers and relevant external counterparts;
- supporting the implementation of agreed security, movement and emergency procedures;
- exercising discretion and professionalism in all interactions;
- carrying out security-sensitive duties only as authorised, trained, licensed and legally permitted.
Candidates should have:
- prior military or law-enforcement experience;
- a valid driving licence permitting the lawful operation of passenger vehicles in Austria;
- a safe and responsible driving record;
- confidence operating in urban, motorway and intercity driving environments;
- a disciplined and service-oriented professional approach;
- the ability to remain composed and attentive under pressure;
- strong situational awareness;
- excellent standards of personal reliability, punctuality and presentation;
- a demonstrable understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries;
- a demonstrable understanding of confidentiality and professional boundaries;
- the capacity to work flexibly, including occasional early mornings, evenings, weekends and short-notice assignments, in accordance with applicable law;
- sufficient written and spoken English for a professional international environment;
- German-language capability, or a demonstrable willingness and ability to develop it, is strongly preferred;
- additional European languages as an advantage.
Mandatory Eligibility Requirements
This includes, where relevant:
- the ability to obtain and maintain any approvals required under Austrian law;
- successful completion of background, integrity, identity and employment-reference checks;
- the ability to meet the occupational and operational requirements of a security-sensitive driving role;
- a clear understanding that any armed duty is strictly conditional upon formal authorisation, assignment-specific training, employer approval and all applicable legal requirements;
- willingness to comply with strict confidentiality, conduct, information-handling and operational-security obligations.
No candidate will be expected or permitted to carry, use or access a weapon without the necessary legal authority, appropriate training, assignment-specific approval and formal instruction.
